Danae Robinett is a San Francisco based yoga teacher with a degree in Dance from Arizona State University. Danae has joyfully been teaching yoga full time for 13 years now in San Francisco, Phoenix, Italy, Ecuador and Bali. She offers group classes, private sessions, workshops, presents at yoga festivals and leads retreats (domestically & internationally.) She is thankful to the co-worker who dragged her to a single Bikram yoga class in 1999 igniting a spark of curiosity and bliss that continues to inspire her today. True bliss was realized as she experienced savasana for the first time, who knows if it was all that sweating or not, but Danae floated outside of the studio that night.
Danae draws inspiration from many sources to create her yoga classes, so please come prepared to sweat, smile and shine. She radiates a playful spirit while still honoring the sacredness of yoga. Danae believes laughter is essential and for some of the seemingly harder poses she suggests a smile while in the pose, doing so releases any competitive thoughts with oneself and others in the space allowing joy to flow easily! Danae fosters a nurturing environment encouraging students to explore their vast potential in any given asana, to not hold back while in the pose and in life. What we learn on our mats automatically translates into the other areas of our lives resulting in transformational effects. She wants her to students know that yoga embraces you exactly where you are, you just have to show up on the mat–even if it means practicing child’s pose!
Her personal practice is now more than ever curious about breath, taking time to feel and explore each asana as it unfolds before her on the mat. Always a student, Danae attends class from other teachers frequently and attends workshops and trainings. She cares less about the hours she is accumulating and more about the knowledge she is acquiring–for those that must know it is more than a 1000 hours of study! Therefore she prefers to study with both the well-knowns and the lesser un-knowns–just ask she is happy to share, but sees no value in name-dropping in her bio. Remembering what it is like to be a student fosters a deeper sensitivity in Danae allowing her to better relate the practice of yoga to her students.
Danae offers gratitude to all her teachers. She is honored to be on this path witnessing the powerful affects of yoga in herself and that of her students. Yoga does not stop happening when you roll up your mat!
